Amanda Vastag — Therapeutic Sound Practitioner
I've always been drawn to what lies beneath the surface, in people, in life, and in the quiet spaces between.
I was raised in a faith based environment, which opened an early curiosity about the deeper meaning of life and about the many ways we seek connection with ourselves, one another and the world around us.
For 26 years I worked as a hair and makeup artist. I loved helping people feel seen, and over time came to recognise that beauty extends far beyond the surface. It lives within our stories, our experiences, our authenticity and the essence of who we are. That understanding gently led me toward the inner work I do today.
My Journey Through Sound
I lost my beloved brother in 1999, beginning a grieving journey that eventually led me towards healing through sound.
A few years later, a sound bath became a moment of feeling physically touched by frequencies of unseen love and tenderness, something I had sought through prayer but honestly had never felt. It enticed me to explore further and led me on a lifelong Organic Sound Journey. It was not always love and tenderness. Back then I did not yet understand what was to unfold, or how much pain I was carrying that needed attention. What mattered was that I had found an avenue for expression, and it had no limits.
I began studies in vocal expression and therapeutic sound, and started collecting instruments, taking my time to connect with each one and play purposefully from the heart. I sounded and toned, using my voice to express my emotions honestly and with great intensity at times and also such sublime sweetness.
I continue to be surprised by the power of the human voice and the freedom of sounds without words, how they can take you deep into your vulnerability, help you accept your own frequency, and let it be free. And I have to say, a good long chat cannot be underestimated either.
Over time, I came to see how deeply this path reaches, and how many of us carry feelings and truths that words alone cannot touch. It has become the heart of the work I offer today.
Holding Space for the Human Experience
My understanding of this work comes not only from study, but from life itself. Raising three children as a solo parent brought seasons of challenge, love, resilience and transformation. Like all of us, I have moved through experiences that asked me to listen more deeply and find strength in unexpected places.
For the last eight years I have been engaged as a support worker in my local community, across aged care, dementia and mental health, with therapeutic sound woven into that care. I understand the deeper realities of mental health from life as well as from that work, and both continue to shape how I meet the people who come to me.
My Approach
My practice is supported by professional training in therapeutic sound, counselling, shamanic practice and restorative breathwork, alongside years of experience working with people.
Every session weaves sound, breath and gentle body awareness together as one integrated experience, each part responding to what is present for you in the moment. I remain open to the quieter and unseen aspects of what may arise, those parts of experience that cannot always be explained in words. Where it feels right, and always with your consent, gentle energy work may also be part of your session. I hold this work with care, presence and respect for the fact that no two journeys look the same.
My hope is that you feel welcome here exactly as you are, and that you find a place to rest, listen within and reconnect with your own wisdom. Every person carries a unique story, and it would be an honour to meet yours with compassion, presence and integrity.
With warmth, Amanda
